In February of 2004, AWT acquired the operations of the Ogeechee Railway Company (OGEE), which consisted of four rail line segments in central Georgia.

One branch of the acquired system from Midville to Vidalia Georgia was contiguous with operations of AWT's Heart of Georgia Railroad, and made a part of HOG operations.? The three remaining segments were re-orgainized as the Georgia Midland Railroad (GMR) and the new operation began at the time of acquisition.
