Officials of The Georgia Midland Railroad (GMR) today, announced the sale of operations on its Ardmore to Sylvania Georgia branch line to the Ogeechee Railway Company (ORC). 

The line consistis of 20 miles of mainline track, and is served through interchange with Norfolk Southern at Ardmore Georgia.

Brad Lafevers, President and CEO of Atlantic Western Transportation Inc., the parent company of GMR said that current operations required shuttling crews and maintenance equipment between the Ardmore branch and other GMR lines.  The sale of the Ardmore branch will allow GMR to more fully utilize its resources to serve and maintain its other lines in the region, and direct more focus on customer needs on the those lines.

 ORC will assume operations of the Ardmore branch effective at midnight April 15th, 2008.
