Atlantic Western Transportation based in Americus Georgia completed the sale of its subsidiary company Georgia Midland Railroad (GMR) on December 16th 2009 to The Georgia Southern Railway (GS), a division of Pioneer RailCorp of Peoria Illinois.

The sale of GMR is consistent with AWT management plans to focus additonal attention and resources to its Heart of Georgia Railroad (HOG) and development of additional projects and service offerings on the HOG.
